How long can a puppy be alone? Missing her and she is here.

How much time can a puppy be alone?

Three days and Nugget comes out to pee and poop(sorry do know the clinic name). Then back in the crate.

Day 1:  image

Nugget came home Sunday afternoon. Stitches removed, but in bandages. And a soft cone around her neck. (Photo above)

When we were talking to the Surgeon, Nugget was in our soft carry crate. She was so excited, she was rolling the crate over on its side, once she even got it to turn completely over and back to the correct position.

We were told to keep her quite and now stressful activities. I.E.  rolling over the crate….Luckily,I insisted on bring the sleeping crate we had for my other dog.  Good thing I don’t think would have made it home in one piece.

At home we carried the crate into her recovery room. (My craft room).  Set up a baby monitoring app on the iPad. Which we can get on our IPhones.  And we walked out, and I cryed for an hour.  Nugget slept peaceful.   Every two to three hours when she woke up, we took her out the door from the craft room to the back yard.  And gave her meds at 8:00 pm, 4:00 am, and noon.

Day 2:image

We removed the bandages the next day.  And let her get water and food. Potty trips and meds.  The remaining day she rested.  And she broke my heart, cry and barking for attention.  But she quited down pretty quick and rested.

Day 3:  image

Here she is as I am trying to get her back in the crate.  (No please I lay quite).  Back in the crate for more rest.

She is starting to whine, and my other dog is at the door whining.  I let Petey in to come say Hi, but he has much as look at her.  I guess introduction will have to come again.

Time to leave the room.  Only 11 more days.

  1. How far out in her recovery is she. I let my 2 dogs be together. Sassy was 6 and it would have been too hard on her being locked away from the family. I tried the 1st day and she stood there and looked at me horrible. she just laid around anyway. Maybe you could bring her out with the family. How old is Nugget? If she got too active then you could crate her? Maybe just crate her while you aren’t home?

    1. Thanks for the support. 5 day afrer surgery. Nugget is 5.5 months, we go to the vet today. But yesterday we brought Nugget out in the living room, she stayed in the crate. But she seemed happier. Petey finally laid down by the crate. Today I am leaving her in the room until my house is cleaned. Then when I am done and the house is quite again I will bring her out again. I feel this might be the best compromise.
      10 more days
